Softening the edges of a selection

We can smooth the hard edges of a selection by anti- aliasing and by feathering.





Feathering:

1. Feathering a selections somewhat similar to smoothing.
2. It doesn’t straighten the selection border but blurs it.
3. With feathering , we will get a smooth transition between selected and non- selected areas. The transition gradually blends the edges of the selection.
4. This smoothing can cause some loss of detail at the edge of the selection.
